2025 Mission

Welcome to Liberty Oaks: A Vision for Healing, Growth, and Transformation

Liberty Oaks is more than a place—it’s a movement.  Our mission is to restore hope to trauma-affected families.  We help families CONNECT, HEAL, GROW, and THRIVE here locally in the Wake Forest, NC area at the Liberty Oaks Homestead property and also in our online community at LibertyOaksNC.com.

What is coming next at Liberty Oaks?

Liberty Oaks is being developed into a serene 20-acre, historic property (surrounded by another 150 acres) to impact families.  Liberty Oaks is a place where individuals, businesses, and communities can experience personal growth, healing, and meaningful transformation. I know those outcomes are possible, because I’ve experienced them here myself. My goal is to provide spaces and programs that support holistic wellness, mental health, and personal and professional development.

Imagine walking through a beautiful therapeutic garden, where nature’s abundance helps ease the mind and spirit. Picture an event barn, blending rustic charm with modern function, where groups can gather for meaningful connection. Envision walking trails winding through and beside wooded areas, a small bubbling creek, and spaces designed to work better, live better, and feel better. This is Liberty Oaks.

Our Key Initiatives

  • Walking Trails & Pondside Paths: Offering space for movement therapy, “walk and talk” counseling sessions, and nature-based reflection, around the fields and pond at the front of the property.
  • K9 Therapy & Wellness Walks: Designated spaces for K9 officers, therapy dogs, and animal-assisted wellness activities.
  • An Event & Retreat Center: Four parlor-sized meeting rooms on the first-floor level of the circa 1817 home, along with two indoor bathrooms, for day-long and hourly rentals and as retreat facilities.
  • Outdoor Gathering Spaces: Space for outdoor events, and a welcoming front porch, for meaningful conversations and relaxation.
  • A Destination for Corporate & Community Retreats: By day, Liberty Oaks will host corporate teams seeking to invest in workplace well-being. Simultaneously, community members will have access to classes and workshops, fostering an environment of shared learning and transformation.
  • A Therapeutic Healing Garden: A peaceful space which will be dedicated to healing and remembrance, thoughtfully designed to engage all of the senses, to be enjoyed by the community but will also serve as a therapeutic tool for guided therapy sessions. Inspired by trauma-focused therapeutic gardens, this space will integrate nature’s restorative properties into holistic wellness practices.
  • Organic Orchard & Raised-Bed Gardens: Providing space and gardening examples for educational workshops.
  • A Renovated Workshop Barn: A two-room barn behind the main house will be transformed into a rustic but functional space for classes and workshops, hosting up to 30 people, with a covered outdoor breakout area and a nearby therapeutic garden.
  • A Resource for Holistic Well-Being: Liberty Oaks will collaborate with local experts in the “8 Dimensions of Wellness” (as defined by SAMHSA) to offer workshops, programs, and resources aimed at fostering a healthier, more balanced life.
  • Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Programs: Partnering with local and national resources and leading experts on cutting-edge suicide prevention programs and models, to provide training, support, and life-saving interventions.

Future Initiatives

  • A Flower Farm: Flowers grown on-site and that are part of the Therapeutic Healing Garden will be available for visitors to take home, share, or use in workshops focused on creativity and emotional wellness.
  • Smaller Healing Gardens & Permaculture Landscaping: Thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces for mindfulness, relaxation, and small group interactions.
  • Organic Produce to Share and Donate: Providing fresh, organic produce for educational workshops, farm-to-table experiences, and community programs.
  • Peaceful Waterfall, Walking Trails & Creekside Paths: Trails will be carved throughout the woods and along the creek, creating opportunities for self-reflection, movement therapy, and “walk and talk” therapy sessions. A waterfall will also be restored at the creek, creating a natural, soothing feature that enhances the serenity of the property.
  • An Event & Retreat Center: A historic-style barn designed to host larger community gatherings, corporate wellness retreats, and educational programs.
  • Expanded Outdoor Gathering Spaces: Firepit areas, a pondside pier, and other individual and small group environments around different parts of the property, to promote exploration, conversation, and mindfulness.
