A Place Where New Growth Begins
For centuries, people have recognized the calming and restorative effects of spending time in nature. Today, research continues to demonstrate the positive impact that gardens, green spaces, and outdoor environments can have on emotional well-being, reflection, and overall quality of life.
"The Renewal Gardens at Liberty Oaks are being created with those principles in mind."
In partnership with TFTC Gardens, a team specializing in trauma-informed design (Natasha Donnelly, PhD, founder, president, and clinical lead; Anna Campbell, MBA, team lead; and Jayanthi Ragu, MBA, psychologist and team lead), and Sean Sweeney, LLA, Landscape Architect, Liberty Oaks is developing a trauma-informed vision that blends nature, community, and meaningful outdoor experiences. Together, we are exploring ways outdoor spaces can support emotional wellness, resilience, and personal growth.
From healing gardens and gathering spaces to walking paths and hands-on gardening opportunities, every element is being thoughtfully considered with sound, scent, color, and natural beauty in mind. The goal is to create welcoming, safe spaces that encourage reflection, conversation, curiosity, and meaningful connection with nature.
The Renewal Gardens is a place where hope can take root and new growth can begin.
The Renewal Gardens are being thoughtfully designed to create spaces where beauty, nature, and meaningful experiences come together.
Drawing inspiration from healing gardens, therapeutic landscapes, and restorative outdoor environments, the vision includes gathering spaces, sensory gardens, walking paths, water features, and areas for quiet reflection.
The concept images below represent elements currently being explored as The Renewal Gardens continue to take shape. While the final design will evolve over time, each feature is being considered with a single purpose in mind: creating a place where individuals and families can experience encouragement, connection, and hope.
A place where new growth begins.
Gardens remind us that growth takes time. Seasons change, new life emerges, and what once appeared dormant begins to flourish again. The Renewal Gardens reflect that same belief, offering spaces where individuals and families can slow down, reflect, find encouragement, and discover that hope can grow even in life's most difficult seasons.
The Renewal Gardens will be brought to life through the generosity of volunteers, supporters, community partners, and people who believe in the mission of Liberty Oaks.
